Software Suppliers’ Varied Usage Data Collection Habits

  • More than two-thirds (70%) collect usage data today, up from 60% in 2020. The number of software suppliers collecting usage data is expected to grow to a total of 79% by 2023.

Room for Improvement with Software Usage Analytics

  • The ability to gather product usage data “very well” varies: 38% of suppliers that use a commercial usage analytics software solution gather product usage data “very well,” a number that drops to 23% for suppliers that use a homegrown solution.

No Plans to Collect Product Usage Data

  • Only 9% of software suppliers have no plans to capture product usage data, perhaps reflecting specific data privacy concerns or contractual limitations.
